A Visit To Great Grandma's (and Pappy too)

Today Michelle, Kate, Amelia, and I took a little visit down to Kate and Amelia's great grandma's house. The girls had fun getting fed and held by her and Pappy. We tried a little tummy time and then Kate took a nap. Amelia did not. She just can't stand it when there are adults talking in another room. She just has to be where the action is!

I'm also including a funny pic of her sitting in her Bumbo chair (she got inspired by Kate to try hers out). Just look at her expressions. Grumpy much?

A Day With Granny

We were having a new AC unit installed at the house on Saturday, so Amelia and I decided to take a little trip to see Granny and Poppa John. Amelia got to wear her too cute new outfit with little shorts (if you have a baby, go get some at Wal-Mart for $3 each :)). Granny had fun feeding Amelia and Mandy and Sadie didn't quite know what to make of her.

Fun With Kate!

Amelia and Kate got to hang out together for a little while today. They had so much fun sitting in Brody's chair and playing on Kate's gym. Kate was worn out and had to take a nap, so Amelia and I ventured out to Wal-Mart. It was Amelia's first time there and she slept the whole time. I'm getting more and more adventurous and tomorrow we're going to Granny's house!

There Is Life Outside Our House!

Today, Amelia and Ilsa had their first play date! They enjoyed playing on Ilsa's gym and then taking a short nap together. Then the unthinkable happened... We went out to dinner WITH Amelia! She was perfect! She slept in her car seat in an extra chair at the table. This was our first real outing with her, besides the pediatrician's office. I think we might just be getting the hang of this parenting thing :P Also, we had a nice surprise during dinner as well. We went to one of our local Italian places and while we were eating, guess who walked in. It was cousin Kate and Brody (and their parents of course). They were meeting some other friends there, but it was nice to see them. I think Justin was impressed that we were actually out of the house. Tomorrow Amelia and Kate are going to get together for a little cousin time. Things are getting fun!

Here are Amelia and Ilsa enjoying the play gym.

Here they are all bundled in their burritos for nap time.

Paybacks are Heck!

Well, I believe we are experiencing some sort of cosmic payback for the way I cried when I was a baby :P Little Amelia has some lungs on her, let me tell you! She has a really fussy period from about 4:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. everyday. During this time, she just refused to go to sleep. All she wants to do is either eat or be out of her crib so she can look around at things. The problem is that by 11:00, she (and her parents) are so tired from her crying that she's over-tired and still has trouble falling asleep. We've tried her swing, her bouncy seat, swaddled, unswaddled, burping, just about everything and nothing helps. We think she is wanted to cluster feed at 7, 9, and 11 at night, so we're trying that tonight to see if it helps her calm down. Hopefully, this fussy time will start to go away as we near that golden 8 week mark. Joe and I are getting a little frustrated that we can't even watch our T.V. shows or play our game for 30 minutes in the evenings because Millie G is crying so much :( My sister-in-law reminds me that this time will pass and soon she'll be up and around wanting to play instead of crying (thanks for the inspiration and advice Michelle :)). Until then, Joe and I will be taking lots of Advil :)

Here's some pics I snapped right after bathtime and in the bouncy seat.

Happy One Month B-Day!

We have survived our first month with little Amelia (although some days it didn't seem that we would :P)! We've had a bit of an issue with her formula, but we're hopeful that we're figuring that all out. We also got to experience what is evidently well known to new parents as a diaper "blowout". That was super fun yet amazing considering Amelia's size :) I took Amelia for a short walk and then sat with her at the little park across the street from our house today. She's becoming more and more alert each day and was gazing up at the tree limbs and birds. I tried my best at telling her the story of Cinderella and then got really confused as to why in the world anyone would wear glass shoes and why that shoe didn't disappear like everything else she was wearing at midnight. I don't think I'm very good at telling fairy tales :P

Speaking of fairy tales, Joe is convinced that Amelia is part elf and even tried to document this fact with our camera.
